The Duluth Historical Society is an organization dedicated to preserving the history of Duluth, Georgia. Established in 1985, the Society is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that is funded through donations, grants, and memberships.
The Society collects and preserves photographs, documents, artifacts, and oral histories that relate to the history of Duluth. The Society also offers educational programs and tours, including lectures, workshops, and tours of historic sites in Duluth and surrounding areas.
The Society's Museum and Archives are located in the historic and beautifully restored Duluth Depot, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum features artifacts, photographs, and other items that tell the story of Duluth's past. The Archives, which is housed in the adjacent building, is home to a variety of primary source documents and photographs. The Society also has a research library that contains books, manuscripts, maps, and other materials related to Duluth's history.
The Society also hosts several special events throughout the year. These include lectures, living history demonstrations, and festivals. The Society also organizes bus tours to other historical sites in the area.
