STATELY OAKS PLANTATION

JONESBORO, GA

Stately Oaks Plantation is located in Jonesboro, Georgia, about 25 miles south of Atlanta. The plantation was built in 1839 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a two-story, Greek Revival style mansion with a full-length front porch and four white columns. The plantation covers approximately 3,600 acres and includes various outbuildings, such as a smokehouse, stable, and slave quarters.

The interior of the mansion features a grand stairway with original woodwork, 14-foot ceilings, and a formal dining room with an impressive fireplace. The original furnishings, including a Steinway piano, can still be found in the house. The land surrounding the plantation is also a beautiful sight to behold, with sprawling fields, a large lake, and several hundred-year-old oak trees.

Today, Stately Oaks Plantation is a popular tourist destination, offering tours, weddings, and special events. The plantation also operates as a museum, with its original artifacts and documents on display. The plantation serves as a reminder of the area’s history and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the antebellum south.
