The Collier County Historical Society is a non-profit organization based in Naples, Florida. Founded in 1925, the Society preserves and promotes the history of Collier County and its surrounding communities. The Society has a wide variety of collections, including photographs, maps, newspapers, and documents. The Society also operates several museums throughout the county, such as the Naples Depot Museum, the Collier County Museum, and the Marco Island Historical Museum. The Society also offers a variety of educational programs, including tours, lectures, and workshops.

The Society's headquarters is located in the historic Larkin House, which was built in 1887 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Society also operates the Collier County Government Center, which houses the offices of the Collier County Clerk, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, and Supervisor of Elections.

The Collier County Historical Society is a member of the Florida Historical Society, the Florida League of Historical Organizations, and the American Association for State and Local History. The Society also partners with many local organizations, such as the Naples Historical Society and the Marco Island Historical Museum, to promote the history of Collier County. The Society is funded through donations, grants, and membership fees.

The Koreshan Unity was a self-sufficient communal utopia formed by Cyrus Teed, a distant relative of Joseph Smith, founder of the Latter Day Saint movement. After moving from New York to Illinois, the group eventually settled in Estero, Florida. They grew fruit & veg, raised cattle, cut lumber and generated electricity on the site, which at it's height housed more than 200 people. Unfortunately their adherence to a life of celibacy automatically doomed them to extinction. The last person to officially admit membership to the Koreshans died in 1982.
