Eartha Mary Magdalene White was born in Jacksonville in 1876 and was an influential leader in the local African American community. She was a teacher, nurse, social worker, and civil rights activist. She founded the Clara White Mission in 1904, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing social services to African Americans and other underserved populations in Jacksonville.
The Eartha M.M. White Historical Museum celebrates Eartha's legacy and is open to the public.
