The Marco Island Historical Society, Inc. (MIHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Marco Island, Florida. Founded in 1993, the Society works to preserve and promote the history of Marco Island in a variety of ways.
The Society houses an extensive collection of photographs, documents, and artifacts related to the history of Marco Island. The collection is open to the public, and is frequently used by schools and other organizations for research and educational purposes. The Society also sponsors several events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, and exhibits related to the history of Marco Island.
The Society is committed to providing a sense of community to its members and to fostering a greater appreciation of the historical and cultural heritage of Marco Island. The Society regularly publishes a quarterly newsletter, maintains an active social media presence, and sponsors several annual events, including a popular annual History Fair.
The Society is a member of the Florida Historical Society and the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, and is supported by the Marco Island Community Foundation. The Marco Island Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.
