Camp Blanding Museum and Historical Associates Inc. (CBHMA) is a non-profit organization located in Starke, Florida. CBHMA’s mission is to document and preserve the history of Camp Blanding, a former U.S. Army training base. Established in 1941, Camp Blanding served as a prisoner of war camp during World War II, as well as a training facility for the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. The museum is home to artifacts from each branch of service, as well as photos, documents, memorabilia and other historical treasures related to Camp Blanding’s history.
The museum’s permanent collection includes items such as uniforms, weapons, flags, insignia, photographs and artifacts from the armed forces. The museum also houses a library with books, magazines, and newspapers related to Camp Blanding’s history. CBHMA hosts a variety of educational events and programs throughout the year, such as living history demonstrations, battlefield tours, lectures, and other special events.
In addition to the museum, CBHMA also maintains historical markers throughout Camp Blanding and the surrounding area. These markers provide information about the base’s history, as well as the surrounding communities. CBHMA also works to preserve the surrounding natural environment, maintaining trails and other outdoor recreation areas.
CBHMA’s mission is to honor the service of those who served at Camp Blanding, as well as to preserve and share its history. Visitors to the museum can learn about the base’s history and the important role it has played in the United States’ military history.
