The Florida Legislative Historic Preservation Corporation (FLHPC) is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1996 to preserve the State’s extraordinary history. The FLHPC is responsible for the restoration, rehabilitation, and preservation of the Old Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida. The Old Capitol, built in 1845, is an iconic symbol of the State’s history and the birthplace of modern Florida.
The FLHPC’s mission is to ensure that the Old Capitol remains an integral part of the State’s history and culture. The FLHPC engages in projects that promote the preservation, restoration, and appreciation of the Old Capitol, its artifacts, and the history of the State of Florida. The FLHPC also assists in the funding of educational and preservation activities related to the Old Capitol.
The FLHPC is governed by a board of directors and is managed by a chief executive officer. The board of directors is composed of twelve individuals who represent the State of Florida, local governments, and various non-profit organizations.
The FLHPC works closely with the Florida Department of State, the Florida Historic Capitol Museum, and other non-profit organizations to ensure that the Old Capitol remains an important part of the State’s history and culture. The FLHPC also works with private individuals and organizations to promote the appreciation and preservation of the Old Capitol.
The FLHPC is committed to the preservation and protection of the Old Capitol and its associated artifacts. The FLHPC works to ensure that the Old Capitol remains a symbol of the State’s history and culture, and to ensure that the Old Capitol and its associated artifacts remain accessible to all citizens.
