The Natural Bridge Historical Society Inc. (NBHS) is a non-profit organization located in Tallahassee, Florida. It was founded in 1966 with the mission of preserving the history of the Natural Bridge, a geological formation located in western Leon County, Florida. The organization supports research and education in the areas of ecology, geology, and history.
NBHS works to protect and preserve the Natural Bridge, a natural limestone bridge that is the oldest surviving bridge in Florida, as well as other historically significant sites in the surrounding area. The Society also offers educational programs about the natural and cultural history of the area, as well as seminars, lectures, and other special events.
In addition to its educational activities, NBHS also offers a variety of services to the community, including the conservation and restoration of historical buildings and artifacts, the establishment of a museum to house artifacts, and the development of research materials. The Society also works to promote public awareness and appreciation of the Natural Bridge and its significance to the state of Florida.
NBHS is a member of the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Florida Historical Society. The Society is supported by donations, grants, and membership fees.
