Debary Hall Historic Site is a 19th-century estate located in Debary, Florida. It was originally built in 1871 by Frederick deBary, a prominent New York wine merchant. The estate is comprised of the main house, a library, a carriage house, and several outbuildings. The main house is a two-story Italianate-style villa, boasting a unique blend of Italian Renaissance, Greek Revival, and Victorian elements. It is surrounded by lush botanical gardens featuring palms, live oaks, and magnolias, with views of the St. Johns River.
The interior of the house is both elegant and inviting, filled with original furnishings and artifacts from the deBary family. Of particular note is the library, which is filled with an extensive collection of books, pamphlets, and documents from the family’s travels around the world.
Today, Debary Hall Historic Site is owned and operated by the Volusia County Historical Society. It is open for tours, special events, and educational programs, allowing visitors to walk through the grounds and explore the home’s rich history.
