HILLWOOD MUSEUM & GARDENS

Hillwood Museum & Gardens is a historic estate located in Washington DC. It was once the home of heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post, and is now a museum and public garden open to the public. The estate includes the mansion, which is filled with more than 17,000 objects from Post's personal collection, the 13 acres of formal gardens, and the 4,000-square-foot greenhouse.

The mansion, which is the centerpiece of the estate, was built in 1955 and features a unique blend of French and Russian influences. Visitors can explore the 20 galleries that feature objects from Post's personal collection, including Fabergé eggs, Russian and French fine and decorative arts, and Asian art. The gardens feature a variety of formal and informal plantings, including a rose garden, a Japanese-style garden, and a cutting garden. The greenhouse is home to a variety of exotic plants, including orchids and bromeliads.

In addition to visiting the estate and gardens, visitors can also participate in educational programs and workshops. There are also special events held throughout the year, such as the annual Easter egg hunt and the annual fall garden festival. Hillwood Museum & Gardens is a popular destination for visitors of all ages, offering a unique and educational experience.
