The Smithsonian Institution's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage (CFCH) in Washington DC is dedicated to the research, interpretation, and presentation of cultural and expressive forms of traditional and contemporary life. Founded in 1976, the Center has developed a wide range of programs to promote, preserve, and celebrate the living heritage of the United States, its peoples, and their cultures.

The Center's mission is to foster understanding, appreciation, and utilization of our cultural and expressive forms, both traditional and contemporary.
