LYME HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Lyme Historical Society was founded in 1968 in Old Lyme, Connecticut, with the mission of preserving the history of the town of Lyme and its surrounding area. The Society is located in a historic building, built in 1795, that houses the Society’s museum, library and archives. The museum displays artifacts and documents that illustrate the history of the area, including a variety of objects related to Lyme’s seafaring heritage and its involvement in the Revolutionary War.

The Society’s library is a research facility that contains local history books, maps, periodicals, genealogical materials and other resources. The archives include photographs, diaries, letters and documents, as well as an oral history collection.
