Guns of Norwich Historical Society Inc. is a nonprofit organization located in Norwich, Connecticut. Founded in 2004, the purpose of the organization is to collect, preserve, research and interpret historical artifacts related to firearms, gunsmithing, and ammunition and to share this knowledge with the public. The Society also fosters an interest in the history and development of firearm technology, the artistry of gunsmithing, and the historical importance of firearms to the United States and the world.
The Society's collection includes guns made in and around the Norwich area, including muskets, rifles, pistols, and shotguns. The collection also includes antique gunsmithing tools, ammunition, and related artifacts. The collection and research library contains historic firearms, documents, images, and other materials.
The Society is a member of the Connecticut Historical Society and the Connecticut League of History Organizations. The Society also works closely with the Norwich Historical Society and the Slater Memorial Museum. The Society offers educational programs, presentations, and field trips, as well as research and curatorial services. The Society is open to the public and admission is free.
