LYME PUBLIC HALL ASSOCIATION INC

The Lyme Public Hall Association Inc. (LPHA) is a non-profit organization located in Lyme, Connecticut. Established in 1965, LPHA is dedicated to preserving and promoting the historic Lyme Public Hall and its surrounding area for the enjoyment of its members and the community. LPHA is responsible for the maintenance, restoration and preservation of the historic building and the grounds.

The Lyme Public Hall is situated on Old Town Road in the center of the town of Lyme. The building was built in 1817 and is one of Connecticut’s last remaining original town halls. It was built as a multipurpose building, hosting town meetings, dances, and other events. The building is also well known as the site of the first Town Meeting held in Lyme in 1779.

LPHA is responsible for organizing and running events in the Hall and its grounds. This includes the annual Lyme Fair and the bi-annual Lyme Art & Antiques Show. LPHA also organizes lectures and educational events for the community, and provides rental space for private events and parties.

LPHA is funded through donations from members, grants from foundations and corporations, and fundraising events. All profits from LPHA events are used to maintain and restore the Hall and its grounds.

LPHA is governed by volunteer board members from the town of Lyme and is dedicated to preserving and promoting the historic Lyme Public Hall for future generations.
