The Historic Preservation Alliance of Colorado Springs, Colorado (HPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historic and cultural heritage of Colorado Springs and the surrounding area. Founded in 1989, HPA is committed to protecting and preserving the architecture, streetscapes and landscapes that have become part of the city’s identity and is a major advocate for historic preservation in the state of Colorado.
The HPA works to identify and protect significant historic buildings, neighborhoods and landscapes in the area. Through its advocacy efforts, it has secured local and state support for the preservation of many landmarks and neighborhoods. It also works to educate the public, developers and government officials about the benefits of preserving historic sites and buildings.
In addition to its preservation work, the HPA is involved in numerous projects, from developing educational programs to facilitating public forums and workshops. It also organizes guided tours, lectures, and walking tours of historic sites in the area.
The HPA works with local, state and federal agencies to protect historic resources and encourage economic development. It also works with developers to ensure the preservation of historic sites in the region.
