The Wrights Mesa Historical Society is a nonprofit organization based in Norwood, Colorado. Founded in 1996, the society is dedicated to the preservation, education, and interpretation of the history of Wrights Mesa, an area of rural western Colorado located in the San Miguel and Ouray counties. The Society collects, preserves, and interprets artifacts, documents, and photographs that are related to the history of the area, and encourages public appreciation of local history.

Norwood Hill After miles and miles of hot but easy downhill grades following the San Miguel River, Highway 145 climbs 700 feet out of the valley at more than a 6% grade on its way to Norwood. While 6% isn't super steep, after 95 miles in the legs on a hot day it was enough to cause many riders to rest alongside the road on the way up. I managed to do it in one 24-minute push.

Getting food and answers in Norwood With the caterers leaving the ride that morning, I wasn't sure what the food situation was going to look like in Norwood. But this little community came through, and had a spread of burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and other goodies. Here Dierdre Moynihan addresses riders to try to explain what happened and where we could expect to get food in the days ahead.
