Dante's Peak Filming Locations - Hot Springs - Buckhorn Campground Angeles National Forest, California

Twonset Hot Spring was built on a campsite at the Buckhorn Campground, off the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway. The pool and rock features were entirely artificial.

-------------

The film Dante's Peak was filmed largely in or around the town of Wallace, Idaho in 1996, with additional locations in California. This collection recreates and expands my original 2007 edition, comparing scenes from the movie with their real life counterparts, taken in 2022 (this campground was closed after a nearby wildfire in 2017). Still my favorite movie, enjoy!

The Alf Museum of Paleontology is located in Claremont, California and is the only accredited paleontology museum on a high school campus in the United States. The museum was founded in 1936 by Dr. William R. "Bill" Cooper, a science teacher at the Webb School, a private high school for boys. The museum was named after Cooper's son, Alf, who had a passion for dinosaurs and paleontology.

The museum has a collection of over 175,000 fossils, including a large number of dinosaur specimens. The museum's exhibits focus on the history of life on Earth, with displays of fossils from various geological eras, including the Cambrian, Devonian, Jurassic, and Pleistocene. Visitors can see life-size replicas of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, as well as interactive exhibits that allow them to learn about paleontology and the scientific process of fossil discovery and analysis.

The museum also offers educational programs for students of all ages, including a summer paleontology program for high school students, as well as workshops and field trips for elementary and middle school students. The Alf Museum of Paleontology is a unique educational resource that provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of life on Earth and the science of paleontology.
