Imperial County Historical is a museum in Imperial, California, located in the county seat of Imperial County. The museum celebrates and preserves the history, culture, and people of Imperial County and its surrounding areas. Established in 1992, the museum has a collection of artifacts, photographs, and other documents related to the history of Imperial County.
The museum offers a variety of exhibits and programs. The permanent exhibit, “The History of Imperial County”, covers the history of the area from the time of the Spanish explorers to the present day. Other exhibits include “The Imperial Valley Culture”, which explores the many different cultures that have lived in Imperial County over the years; “The Imperial Valley Railroads”, which chronicles the development of the railroads in the area; and “The Imperial Valley Natural History”, which explores the flora and fauna of the region.
In addition to the exhibits, Imperial County Historical also offers a variety of educational and cultural programs. These include guided tours of the museum and its exhibits, educational lectures, workshops, and special events. The museum also hosts the annual Imperial County History Day, a day dedicated to celebrating and exploring the culture, history, and people of Imperial County.
Imperial County Historical is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission to the museum is free. The museum is an excellent resource for anyone interested in learning about the history of Imperial County and its surrounding areas.
