The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is a premier art museum located in the city of Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1965, it is one of the largest art museums in the United States and the largest art museum in the western United States. The museum is divided into several separate buildings, each exhibiting a different type of art. The main building houses the museum's permanent collection of over 130,000 works of art and includes works from ancient times to the present. It also has a large collection of American, European, and Latin American art.
The museum also houses special exhibitions, which feature works from different periods and styles. LACMA also has a variety of educational programs, lectures, and workshops, along with a library, film and video archive, and conservation laboratory. In addition, the museum has a restaurant, cafe, and an on-site store.
LACMA is located in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles and is easily accessible by public transportation. The museum is open daily, with extended hours on certain days.
