King City / Salinas River Post-storm Comparison From the US 101 fast-food area of King City, which edges on the Salinas River. The photo on the right is Google Street View from April, 2012. The photo on the left was taken April, 2023 after the winter's heavy rains. The difference in ground cover is due to the super-storms we had in early 2023 that brought the Salinas river up to a level that flooded parts of King City and carried away much of the trees and bushes.

Not visible in these photos but based on my observations from having stopped there many times is the fact that this slope had been a camping area for the unhoused for many years, with that indentation seen in the right photo being where people had gone down the slope to camps. Clearly all of that has been wiped out.
