The Atmore Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich history of Atmore, Alabama. Located in the heart of downtown Atmore, the Society operates a museum at its headquarters. The museum houses a variety of artifacts and documents relating to the history of Atmore, including photographs, maps, newspaper articles, and other memorabilia.

The Society also provides educational programs to the public, such as lectures, walking tours, and workshops. The Society is committed to preserving Atmore’s unique heritage and making it accessible to the public. In addition to the museum, the Society also hosts annual events such as the Atmore Heritage Festival, which celebrates the city’s culture and history.

The Atmore Historical Society was established in 1971 and is a member of the Alabama Historical Commission. It is funded in part by the city of Atmore and private donations. The Society also operates a gift shop at its headquarters, which sells books, maps, postcards, and other souvenirs.

The Atmore Historical Society is committed to preserving and sharing Atmore’s rich and unique history. It is a valuable resource for the community and makes a great destination for those interested in learning more about the city’s past.
