MARQUETTE HISTORICAL DISTRICT

The Marquette Historical District is located in Kewaunee, Wisconsin and is a designated historic district on the National Register of Historic Places. The district spans over 30 acres and encompasses 28 buildings, most of which were constructed between the 1860s and early 1900s.
The district is named after Father Jacques Marquette, a French missionary who explored the area in the 17th century. Many of the buildings in the district reflect the area's French and Belgian heritage, with architectural styles ranging from Greek Revival to Art Deco.
Some notable buildings in the district include the Marquette School, which was built in 1915 and served as a school until the 1980s, and the Marquette House, which was built in 1865 and served as a hotel for many years.
Today, the Marquette Historical District is a popular tourist destination and offers visitors a glimpse into Kewaunee's rich history. The district hosts several events throughout the year, including a Christmas Walk and a historical home tour, and is home to several shops, restaurants, and businesses.
