The Jacksonport Historical Society Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin that is dedicated to preserving the history of Door County. Founded in 1971, the Society is comprised of members from all over Door County who are passionate about preserving the region’s history and culture.

The Society’s mission is to “promote, preserve and protect the history of the people, places, and events in Door County, Wisconsin.” This is accomplished through the collection and preservation of objects, documents, photographs, and oral histories, as well as through the publication of books and other educational materials.

The Society also maintains several historic sites in Door County, including the Jacksonport Historic Village and the Log Cabin Museum. The Historic Village includes several 19th century buildings such as a schoolhouse, a general store, and a blacksmith shop. The Log Cabin Museum, which is located in Sturgeon Bay, features a variety of artifacts and exhibits related to Door County’s history.

The Society also hosts several events throughout the year, including the annual Jacksonport Homecoming in August and the Jacksonport Christmas Walk in December. These events provide a great opportunity for visitors to learn more about Door County’s rich history and culture.

The Jacksonport Historical Society Inc. is an invaluable resource for the Door County community, providing a platform for education and appreciation of the region’s past.
