The Flanders Foundation, located in Carmel, California, is an award-winning, non-profit organization that promotes the preservation, conservation and interpretation of the unique cultural heritage of the Monterey Peninsula. Established in 1960, the Foundation works to promote public awareness of the region's history, and to promote the public appreciation of the area's natural beauty and cultural heritage through education, research and public programs.

The Foundation offers a wide range of educational and research programs, including walking tours, lectures, workshops, summer camps, and youth programs. The Foundation also works with local organizations, businesses and government agencies to create and implement projects that enhance the community and its environment.

The Flanders Foundation also provides grants and other financial support to local organizations and individuals to further promote the preservation, conservation and interpretation of the area's unique history and cultural heritage. The Foundation also works to conserve, protect and restore the region's valuable natural resources, including the Carmel River and its watershed.

The Foundation's commitment to the preservation and conservation of the area's unique heritage and environment has earned it numerous awards and recognitions, including the California Preservation Foundation's Outstanding Achievement Award and the Monterey County Historical Society's Preservation Award. The Foundation is also a member of the American Association for State and Local History and the California Historical Society.
