Hixon House is a historic mansion located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The house was built in 1858 by Gideon Hixon, a prominent businessman and politician in the La Crosse area. The mansion is a fine example of Italianate architecture and features many ornate details, including a carved stone exterior, a grand staircase, and intricate woodwork.

The Hixon family lived in the house for many years, and it was later used as a boarding house and a fraternity house before falling into disrepair. In the 1970s, the house was purchased and restored by the La Crosse County Historical Society, and it is now a popular tourist attraction.

Visitors to Hixon House can take guided tours of the mansion and learn about the history of the Hixon family and the La Crosse area. The house is filled with period furnishings and artwork, giving visitors a glimpse into the lifestyle of the wealthy in the 19th century.

In addition to its historical significance, Hixon House is also known for its beautiful gardens and grounds. The property includes a carriage house, a gazebo, and several outdoor sculptures. The mansion is open for tours during certain times of the year and is a must-see destination for anyone interested in history or architecture.
