The Kanawha Valley Railroad Club Inc. (KVRC) is an all-volunteer model railroad club located in Charleston, West Virginia. Founded in 1978, the KVRC is one of the oldest and most active model railroad clubs in the United States. The club is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of model railroading, and its members are active in many aspects of the hobby including layout building, operations, and prototypical modeling.

The KVRC meets regularly to discuss and plan projects and activities. The club's main focus is the construction and operation of a large, two-level modular layout, which is exhibited at various events throughout the year. The layout is built to HO scale and features replicas of West Virginia landmarks, including the New River Gorge Bridge and the Clifftop coal mine. The layout also includes a large switching yard, a coal dock, a passenger station, and a sawmill.

The KVRC also sponsors an annual model railroad show and swap meet, held each spring at the Charleston Civic Center. The show features a number of model railroad exhibits, vendors, and clinics, as well as a large operating model railroad layout. In addition, the KVRC maintains a library of books, DVDs, and magazines related to model railroading.

The KVRC is open to all model railroaders, regardless of skill level or experience. Membership is open to anyone interested in model railroading, and the club welcomes new members at any time. The KVRC is a great way to get involved in the hobby and learn about model railroading from experienced model railroaders.

Charleston Newspapers Building, Virginia Street and McFarland Street, Charleston, WV Built in 1923, this Classical Revival-style building was designed by H. Rus Warne to house the offices and printing operations of the Charleston Newspapers. The building was expanded to the side and rear in the 1950s to house additional printing equipment and offices. The building features a limestone exterior with a rusticated base, one-over-one windows, a decorative trim surround at the main entrance door, corinthian pilasters, recessed spandrel panels, cornices with dentils, and a cream brick-clad addition to the side and rear of the original building. The building is a contributing structure in the Downtown Charleston Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The building features a buff brick exterior, arched bays at the first, fourth, and fifth floors, brick corbeling, a rough-hewn stone base, one-over-one windows, and a mural on the facade facing the approach to the adjacent South Side Bridge. The building is a contributing structure in the Downtown Charleston Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
