The Kanawha Valley Historical & Preservation Society Inc. (KVHPS) is a non-profit organization based in Charleston, West Virginia, dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Kanawha Valley. Founded in 1980, KVHPS seeks to protect, preserve, and promote the area’s unique history and culture through a variety of initiatives.

KVHPS promotes the history of the Kanawha Valley through a variety of activities, such as lectures, seminars, and educational programs. The organization also works to preserve and promote the region’s historic sites, monuments, and buildings, including the Kanawha County Courthouse and the Capitol Theatre. Additionally, KVHPS promotes the preservation of historic documents, artifacts, photographs, and other items of local historical significance.

KVHPS also hosts an annual Historic Kanawha Valley Festival, which celebrates the area’s history and culture. The event includes activities such as craft demonstrations, live music, food, and a parade. The organization also sponsors other special events, such as the West Virginia Day Celebration in Charleston.

KVHPS is supported primarily through membership dues, donations, and grants. The organization is also supported by the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and the West Virginia Humanities Council.
