US 101 Grays Harbor Creeks A temporary traffic signal alternates traffic around a work zone on US 101. This is in Grays Harbor County at milepost 111 north of McNutt Road. A temporary route around the existing highway allows crews to create a work zone. The entire highway is excavated to reach a culvert considered a barrier to fish. The culvert is removed. It is replaced with a new structure that allows for fish passage beyond the highway. Workers then repave the highway and add lane markings.
US 101 – Grays Harbor Creeks – Remove Fish Barrier WSDOT's efforts to remove barriers to fish includes means to keep people moving. Both directions of the highway are temporarily closed while crews excavate the highway. It allows workers to remove the existing culvert. It is replaced with a new structure that allows for fish passage. The highway later needs to be repaved before it can reopen. Before this work occurs on US 101, crews build a temporary one-lane bypass road around the work zone. This photo shows crews beginning the process of building the temporary roadway. The bypass road will be paved. There will be temporary traffic signals that alternate traffic through the temporary road. This location is on US 101 north of Hoquiam near Youmans Road.
Temporary bridge structure on US 101 Grays Harbor County Construction crews are replacing culverts under US 101 in Grays Harbor County. At this location, milepost 111.3, crews are building a temporary bridge, called an ACROW bridge. Once fully assembled and in place, travelers will cross this bridge, one lane at a time, with traffic controlled by a signal. This helps keep travelers away from the work zone and allows crews to work more efficiently and meet the project's timeline when crews can work in water.
