Vashon Maury Island Heritage (VMH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history, culture and environment of Vashon Maury Island in Washington State. VMH was founded in 2002 by a dedicated group of local volunteers and has since become an important cornerstone of the island’s identity.

VMH works to engage the local community by facilitating educational activities and events, as well as offering resources such as lectures, tours, and a library of local history books and artifacts. VMH also works to protect the island’s unique environment, advocating for the preservation of its forests, beaches, wetlands and open spaces.

The organization also works to preserve and promote the island’s cultural heritage. VMH works to document the stories of the island’s indigenous peoples, as well as the rich and diverse histories of the other ethnicities who have called Vashon Maury Island home.

In addition to its work preserving history and culture, VMH also works to support the local economy. VMH has hosted a variety of events, from farmers’ markets to art shows, to help bring more business to the island.
