The First Mayor's House of Salinas City in Salinas, California is a historic two-story, single-family home located at the corner of Central Avenue and East Alisal Street. It was built in 1876 and is one of the oldest residences in Salinas. The house was originally constructed by the first mayor of Salinas, James R. Davidson.

The house is an example of the Italianate style, featuring a steeply pitched, low-pitched, side-gabled roof with wide eaves, and a two-story, three-bay front façade. The exterior is painted in a light beige color, with red and green trim. There are two small, one-story additions to the rear of the house.

The interior of the house has been updated, but still retains its original floor plan and many period details. The first floor has a formal dining room, a parlor, a kitchen, and a bedroom. The second floor includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a small storage room.

The First Mayor's House of Salinas City is an important part of the city's history, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is currently owned by the Salinas Historical Society and is open to the public for tours.

Salinas / “Day or Remembrance Memorial Garden” (# 0076) The “Day or Remembrance Memorial Garden” in Salinas, near the Rodeo Grounds where Monterey area Japanese were involuntarily assembled before being sent to internment camps (mostly to the <u><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/donbrr/9640061740">Poston Internment camp</a></u>) during WWII. Salinas / ‘guard animal’? (#0069) Getting closer to why I was visiting the park, I came across this unusual statue – again with no description. But, the fenced enclosure in the background is my real reason for visiting (forthcoming picture).

Monterey / Fisherman’s Wharf distressed seal? (# 0060) When I walked out on the wharf there were a small number of people watching this seal. When I came back 20 minutes later, this seal was roughly in the same spot, acting weird. It would wander closer to the water and then back up, and was bobbing its head up and down, and did this for a couple of minutes. I looked around the wharf to see it there was someone there in some sort of uniform to report it, but of course one can never find an ‘official’ when one wants to.
