The Historic Orient-Santa Fe Depot is a historic building in San Angelo, Texas, located at 703 S. Chadbourne Street. The depot was built in 1910 and served as the main passenger and freight hub for the Orient-Santa Fe Railroad until the 1950s.
The building is a two-story brick structure with a distinctive red tile roof and features a large waiting room and ticket office on the ground floor. The upper floor was used as living quarters for the station master and his family. The building also includes a large baggage room and a separate freight room.
In the 1980s, the building was restored and renovated to serve as the San Angelo Visitor Center and a museum showcasing the history of the Orient-Santa Fe Railroad and San Angelo. The museum includes exhibits on the railroad industry, local history, and the role of the railroad in the development of San Angelo.
Today, the Historic Orient-Santa Fe Depot is a popular tourist attraction and a significant landmark in San Angelo's downtown area. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1978 and continues to serve as a testament to the important role that railroads played in the development of West Texas.
