Wayland Baptist University (WBU) is a private, coeducational Baptist university located in Plainview, Texas. Founded in 1908, it is the oldest university in continuous operation in the state of Texas. It is also the oldest in the United States that is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
Wayland Baptist offers certificates, undergraduate, and graduate degrees in a wide variety of fields, including the arts and sciences, business, humanities, education, and nursing. WBU also offers online and distance education, allowing students to take courses from any location.
WBU's main campus is located in Plainview, with additional locations in San Antonio, Amarillo, Lubbock, and Albuquerque. The university's athletics program is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The WBU campus is home to a variety of facilities, including the Mabee Learning Resources Center, the Harral Memorial Auditorium, the Abraham Art Gallery, the L.M. Parkhurst Field House, and the Logsdon Chapel and Seminary. The university also has a number of student organizations and clubs, including the Student Government Association, the Wayland Baptist University Gospel Choir, and the International Student Association.
