Blinn College – Marie Heineke Memorial Gymnasium (Brenham, Texas) Historic Marie Heineke Memorial Gymnasium on the campus of Blinn College in Brenham, Texas.  The Rustic style building was constructed 1938-40 as a New Deal Works Progress Administration (WPA) project.  The gym was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 as a contributing resource to the Blinn College Historic District (NRHP District No. 90000446).

Blinn College is a public junior college with its main campus in Brenham, Texas.  Blinn College was founded as the Mission Institution in 1883 by the Southern German Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.  In 1889 the name was changed to Blinn Memorial College in honor of the Rev. Christian Blinn.  Washington County created a public junior college district in 1937 and Blinn College became the first county-owned junior college district in Texas.

The Industry West End Historical Society (IWHS) is a nonprofit organization located in Industry, Texas. Founded in 2002, the organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the area. The Society’s mission is to educate the public about the vibrant and interesting history of Industry, Texas and its surrounding communities.

IWHS is comprised of dedicated volunteers who work hard to collect, preserve, and share the history of the area. The Society hosts numerous events throughout the year including the annual Fall Festival and the Annual Christmas Home Tour. IWHS also offers a number of educational programs for students of all ages.

The Society’s collection includes a wide range of artifacts and memorabilia from the area. These include photographs, newspaper clippings, books, maps, and oral histories. The Society also maintains a research library and an archive of family histories.

The Industry West End Historical Society plays an important role in preserving and promoting the heritage of the area. It serves as a great resource for both local residents and visitors. With its dedication to preserving the past and educating the public, IWHS is ensuring that the history of the area will not be forgotten.
