The Angel Island Association (AIA) is an educational non-profit organization whose mission is to protect, preserve and interpret the cultural and natural resources of Angel Island State Park, located in the San Francisco Bay. AIA is based in Tiburon, California, and works closely with the California State Parks, the National Park Service, and other local organizations to ensure the long-term health and continued access of the park.
AIA was founded in 1981 by a group of local citizens and organizations, and quickly gained recognition for its efforts in preserving and protecting the ecological and cultural resources of the area. Since then, the organization has grown significantly, and now has a staff of five employees and numerous volunteers.
AIA works to promote public awareness and appreciation of the park through a variety of activities, such as hosting public events and educational programs, offering guided tours, and helping to promote volunteer opportunities. The organization also works to maintain and improve the park's trails, and to protect the native plant and animal populations. In addition, AIA assists with the management of park facilities, such as the Visitor Center, the Angel Island Cafe, and the ferry dock.
The Angel Island Association strives to be a leader in the preservation of the park, and to provide educational and recreational opportunities for visitors and local residents alike. Through its efforts, the organization is helping to ensure that Angel Island State Park remains a treasured part of the Bay Area for generations to come.
