Old Santa Fe Railway Station (Temple, Texas) Historic Santa Fe Railway depot in Temple, Texas. The Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad (GC&SF) founded Temple in 1881. This Prairie School and Beaux Arts style station was constructed 1909-11. The building was abandoned in in the 1980s. The City of Temple acquired the station as part of a revitalization project and it is now home to the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum and an Amtrak ticket office. The old Temple Santa Fe railway station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing resource to the Temple Commercial Historic District in 2005 (NRHP District No 05001192). It has also been designated as a City of Temple Historic Landmark (as the Temple City Hall).
