The Overton County Historical Society is located in Livingston, Tennessee and is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Overton County area. The society was founded in 1957 and is a non-profit organization with a mission to "Preserve Yesterday, Celebrate Today, and Educate Tomorrow."

The Society offers a wealth of resources to the community, including archives of photographs, documents, books, and artifacts related to the county's history. It also sponsors a number of events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, and educational programs.

Putnam County Courthouse and Veterans Memorial The grounds of the Putnam County Courthouse changed in 2022 as a new Veterans memorial and Eternal Flame were added to the Southern Side. These were dedicated on Memorial Day 2022.

It's also the first memorial I've seen anywhere which honors the new 2019 U.S. Space Force branch of the military.

Cookeville's New Eternal Flame Located on the grounds of the Putnam County Courthouse, the new eternal flame honoring POW-MIA was dedicated on Memorial Day 2022.

Giant Cross on Prayer Mountain - Cookeville, TN James Potter has built large crosses all over Tennessee and the south. I believe this one is 110 feet tall. It overlooks Interstate 40 from a hill on the west side of Cookeville. There is a church at the bottom of the hill and a road which leads to the top.

Tennessee Central Caboose 11744 - Monterey, TN This caboose is located at the Monterey Depot Museum in Eastern Putnam County. On the day I took this photo in 2022, it was behind a fence as the build a ramp for the visitors.

Tennessee Central was headquartered in Nashville - that property is now a museum. They occasionally run excursions all the way to Monterey.

Autumn on Brotherton Mountain I'm not sure if there's actually a Brotherton Mountain, but this view was seen along Brotherton Mountain Road which runs between Cookeville and Monterey in Putnam County, TN.

The train tracks are operational but not used often. The line was originally created by Tennessee Central in a failed effort to connect Nashville to Knoxville, but they never got too far past Monterey. The tracks currently belong to Nashville &amp; Eastern Railroad (NERR), a short line owned by RJ Corman.

Mitchell Street Industrial Site, Clay County, Tennessee

Kelly Dam - Standing Stone Lake (Overton County, Tennessee) Historic rustic dam on Standing Stone Lake in Standing Stone State Park in Overton County, Tennessee. The area had been severely eroded and damaged by clear cutting and over grazing in the early 20th century. Standing Stone State Park was a multi-agency land rehabilitation project involving the U.S. Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the New Deal Works Progress Administration (WPA) and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) agencies. The rock faced coursed stone and concrete Kelly Dam and 69-acre Standing Stone Lake were constructed in 1938 as a WPA project.

The dam was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing resource to the Standing Stone Rustic Park Historic District (NRHP District No. 86002794).
