The Sumter County Historical and Preservation Society Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Sumter County, Alabama. It was founded in 1990 in Livingston, Alabama.
The mission of the Society is to collect, preserve, and promote the history of Sumter County and its people. The Society works to provide educational services to the members of the community and to preserve the county’s historical sites and artifacts. The Society is also involved in genealogical research and in the preservation of Sumter County’s cemeteries.
The Society hosts an annual meeting each year where they highlight the accomplishments of the past year and recognize the work of their members. They also host a variety of programs throughout the year, including lectures, seminars, and workshops.
The Sumter County Historical and Preservation Society Inc. is committed to the preservation of Sumter County’s past and to educating the citizens of the county about its history. The Society strives to create a better understanding of Sumter County’s history and to promote the preservation of the county’s valuable artifacts and historical sites.
