The Geode Pillars of Beaver Dam Plantation Beaver Dam Plantation, also known as the William Cannon Houston House, is one of the most prominent early homes of Woodbury, TN. However, the home is not really visible from the street.

&quot;The home is well known in rock hunting circles for its spectacular geode pillars. They were constructed with the help of farmhands, by the six brothers of the family. They were built as an anniversary present for Judge Houston and his wife Lizzie Minor McLemore Houston.&quot;

Woodbury is known as one of the best places to find geodes in Tennessee, but as more people learn this, they become harder to find.

This mansion's property extends to highway US70S/TN1. According to legend, when construction crews rebuilt the bridge over the creek by this property, they were overwhelmed with the geodes they found as they were clogging the culverts.

Originally these pillars marked the driveway to the home along US70S/TN1. Later, as Houston Ln. was constructed, the pillars were at the entrance to this road. A highway road widening project around 2011 required these be relocated to the home's modern driveway.

1800's Highway Marker - Woodbury, TN TO MUR 13

This marker has been preserved on the grounds of the Cannon County Courthouse in Woodbury, TN.

Text of the marker:
This stone was erected and used as a mile marker during the 1800's for what is now U. S. Highway 70S. Before the settlement of Europeans to this area, the route was known as the Black Fox Trail by Native Americans. During the 1800's the road was known as the Broadway of America and later became known as the Woodbury-Murfreesboro Turnpike. The stone mile marker was originally located about 5½ miles west of Woodbury and ½ mile north of the present day Highway 70S. During construction of the present courthouse in 1935-1936, the mile marker was located and moved to the courthouse grounds by historian Sterling Brown. The stone was placed at it's present location of prominence in 2011 as part of the courthouse square revitalization project by county executive, Mike Gannon.

Mt. Zion Road Hickory Creek Bridge (Warren County, Tennessee) Historic 1935 three-span closed-spandrel concrete arch bridge on Mt. Zion Road over Hickory Creek in the Viola community in Warren County, Tennessee. The bridge was widened to one side ca. 1960.
