Honor Flight of Northeast Tennessee Region is a non-profit organization that provides veterans with an opportunity to visit Washington D.C. and see the memorials erected in their honor. The organization is based in Erwin, TN and serves veterans from Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

The Honor Flight program was created to give veterans a chance to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifices. Many veterans have never had the opportunity to see these memorials, and the Honor Flight program provides them with a free trip to Washington D.C. to do so.

Honor Flight of Northeast Tennessee Region was founded in 2008 and has since taken over 1,200 veterans on trips to Washington D.C. The organization is run by volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that each veteran has a memorable and meaningful experience.

The Honor Flight trips typically take place over the course of one day and include visits to the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and other sites of interest in the nation's capital. The veterans are accompanied by volunteer guardians who help them navigate the trip and ensure that they have everything they need.

The Honor Flight program is a wonderful way to honor and thank our nation's veterans for their service and sacrifices. Honor Flight of Northeast Tennessee Region is doing an incredible job of providing this opportunity to veterans in their area.

Blue Ridge Mountains This was on a drive back from a lake vacation in North Carolina, stopping off at a scenic overlook along I-26. The view was indeed scenic with the fortunate timing of the sunset.

This location is within the Blue Ridge Mountain Range of the Appalachian Mountains, not too far from the Great Smoky Mountains and Pisgah National Forest.
