The GAESATAE in San Jose, California is an ancient Native American archaeological site located near the intersection of two major highways. The site was first discovered in 2000 by Caltrans workers who were building a freeway and has since been studied by archaeologists and historians.

The GAESATAE site is believed to be a large village belonging to the Ohlone people, an indigenous group who lived in the region prior to European contact. The site is made up of several large mounds over a wide area, with evidence of residences and other structures. The mounds are believed to date back to around 1150 A.D., and are estimated to have been occupied for about two centuries.

The GAESATAE site is both culturally and historically significant. It provides valuable insight into the life and culture of the Ohlone people, who inhabited the area prior to European contact. It also helps us to understand the changes that occurred in the area as a result of European settlement and the subsequent development of cities like San Jose.

The site is now owned by the City of San Jose and is open to the public for educational and research purposes. Visitors can explore the mounds and learn more about the history of the area and the Ohlone people. It is an important reminder of the rich cultural heritage of San Jose and the entire Bay Area.
