The 463rd Bomb Group Historical Society is based in Santa Ana, California and was founded in 2002. The purpose of the Society is to honor the memory of the 463rd Bomb Group and the men who served with it during World War II. The 463rd Bomb Group was activated in 1943 and served in the European Theater of Operations. The 463rd Bomb Group flew B-17 Flying Fortress bombers and was part of the 15th Air Force. The 463rd Bomb Group completed 254 missions and earned two Distinguished Unit Citations, the highest award given to a unit in the United States Air Force.

The 463rd Bomb Group Historical Society works to preserve the legacy of the 463rd Bomb Group and to foster a sense of camaraderie among its members. The Society meets regularly to discuss and share memories of the 463rd Bomb Group and its members. The Society also works to build relationships with other veterans organizations and to provide support to the families of 463rd Bomb Group veterans. Additionally, the Society seeks to educate the public about the 463rd Bomb Group and its contribution to the war effort. The Society also seeks to acquire artifacts and documents related to the 463rd Bomb Group and to preserve them for future generations.
