The Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF) is a non-profit organization located in Newport, Rhode Island, with a mission to preserve, protect and share the architectural heritage of colonial Newport. Founded in 1968 by philanthropist Doris Duke, the NRF is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Newport’s 18th-century buildings and landscapes.

The NRF owns and operates 18 properties in Newport, including the Whitehorne House Museum, the Prescott Farm, and the Hunter House. The NRF also operates a number of programs, such as the Tenant Assistance Program, which helps landlords and tenants maintain their historic properties, and the Homeowner Assistance Program, which assists homeowners in restoring and maintaining their historic homes.

The NRF also sponsors a variety of educational and cultural programs, including lectures, symposia, workshops, and guided tours. In addition, the NRF serves as an advocate for historic preservation in Newport and surrounding areas by working with local, state, and federal agencies to protect historic resources and promote responsible stewardship of the city’s historic properties.

The NRF is supported by donations, grants, memberships, and income from its properties and programs. Through its efforts, the NRF has helped to preserve and protect Newport’s colonial heritage for future generations.
