BELCOURT CASTLE

Belcourt Castle is a Gilded Age mansion located in Newport, Rhode Island. Built in 1894 by the renowned architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White, the castle is considered one of the finest examples of the period’s French chateau-style architecture. The castle is set on a sprawling 65-acre estate with formal gardens and acres of woodland.

The main house has three stories and a basement, and is constructed of Indiana limestone. The walls are adorned with elaborate carvings and the roof topped with copper. Inside, the castle features a grand entrance hall with a grand staircase, a chapel, a formal dining room, library, and a ballroom.

The interior is filled with art and antiques from all over the world, and the castle also houses a large collection of paintings, sculptures, and rare books. Belcourt Castle is a popular tourist attraction and is open for tours throughout the year.
