The Erie Center for Design and Preservation (ECDP) is a nonprofit organization located in Erie, Pennsylvania that works to create and preserve vibrant and sustainable communities. Founded in 2011, ECDP’s mission is to foster equitable and healthy neighborhoods while honoring the city’s historic legacy. Through their efforts, ECDP works to revitalize the community by helping to create and retain jobs, improve public safety, and provide quality housing.
ECDP focuses on not only on the built environment, but also on the social and economic aspects of the community. Through a variety of programs and projects, ECDP works to engage the public in developing and implementing sustainable planning and design initiatives. From hosting community meetings and workshops to offering design assistance and technical assistance to homeowners, businesses, and other organizations, ECDP is committed to creating positive changes in the city of Erie.
ECDP also works to preserve Erie’s historic resources. The organization’s Historic Preservation Program works to document, interpret, and protect the city’s historic buildings, sites, and neighborhoods. ECDP also works to promote the adaptive reuse of historic properties and to engage the community in historic preservation efforts.
Through their work, ECDP strives to make Erie a place where people can live, work, and play in an environment that is vibrant, sustainable, and equitable.
