USS EMMONS ASSOCIATION

The USS Emmons Association is a nonprofit organization located in Northampton, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1944 by the former crew members of the USS Emmons, a destroyer ship that served during World War II. The association's primary purpose is to preserve the memory and legacy of the USS Emmons and its crew.
The association holds annual reunions to bring together former crew members and their families. It also maintains a website, Facebook page, and newsletter to share information about the ship, its crew, and upcoming events. The association also offers scholarships to descendants of USS Emmons crew members, as well as supporting other charitable causes.
The USS Emmons, named after Rear Admiral George F. Emmons, was commissioned in 1943 and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. The ship was involved in several major battles, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944. It was ultimately sunk by a Japanese kamikaze attack on April 6, 1945, during the battle for Okinawa. Of the 276 crew members on board, 60 were killed in action.
The USS Emmons Association honors the bravery and sacrifice of the ship's crew and works to ensure that their legacy lives on for future generations.
