The Ferndale Historical Society in Johnstown, PA is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the city and its surrounding area. Founded in 1972, the Society operates its own museum, which houses a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to the Ferndale area. It also operates a research library with over 10,000 volumes, including books, maps, newspapers, and photographs.
The Society offers a variety of educational programs and lectures dealing with the history of the Ferndale area. It also has a number of special events throughout the year, including a summer picnic, a memorial service for the victims of the 1889 Johnstown Flood, and a Christmas program.
The Ferndale Historical Society is a member of the Johnstown Area Heritage Association, and it is affiliated with the Cambria County Historical Society. It works closely with the Johnstown Area School District to bring the history of Ferndale to life in the classroom.
