The Conemaugh Township Area Historical Society (CTAHS) is a non-profit organization located in Davidsville, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1973, its mission is to preserve, protect and promote the history of Conemaugh Township and surrounding areas. It is the oldest historical society in Cambria County.
In addition to preserving and displaying historical artifacts, CTAHS also provides educational programs in the local community. The society is open to the public and offers a variety of events, including lectures, workshops and museum tours. It also sponsors programs such as the Conemaugh Township Area Historical Society Annual Dinner, the Conemaugh Township Area Historical Society Fall Tour and the Conemaugh Township Area Historical Society Christmas Tour.
The society’s collections consist of more than 10,000 photographs, documents, artifacts, books and other materials. The materials are housed in the Conemaugh Township Area Historical Society Museum, located in the Davidsville Historical District. The museum includes exhibits on the region’s history, as well as a research library.
CTAHS is funded through donations, memberships, grants and other contributions. Membership is open to all individuals interested in preserving the history of the Conemaugh Township area. The society is governed by a board of trustees, who are elected from the membership.
The Conemaugh Township Area Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the area’s history and providing educational programs to the local community. Through its efforts, the society is ensuring that the history of the Conemaugh Township area will be remembered for generations to come.
