The Hornby School Restoration Society is a non-profit organization in North East, Pennsylvania dedicated to restoring and preserving the historic one-room schoolhouse located in the village of Hornby. Built in 1875, the schoolhouse is one of the last remaining structures from the area’s 19th century rural past. The Society was formed in 2002 by a group of local residents who wanted to preserve the school’s history for future generations.

The Society’s mission is to restore the schoolhouse to its original condition and to create a living history museum at the site. They have scraped and painted the exterior, replaced rotted wood, and added a new roof. They have also installed a new HVAC system and are currently working to restore the interior.

They host events such as open houses and school days, where visitors can learn about the history of the schoolhouse and the village of Hornby. The Society also offers educational programs for children and adults about the importance of preserving history and the importance of rural education.

In addition to preserving and restoring the schoolhouse, the Society also works to preserve the local history of the area. They have collected artifacts from the area, compiled oral histories from local residents, and established a library of books and other resources related to the Hornby School and the surrounding area.
