The Firefighters Historical Museum in Erie Pennsylvania is a non-profit museum dedicated to preserving and displaying the history of firefighters and firefighting. It was founded in 1980 by a group of firefighters and their supporters, and is the only museum of its kind in the United States.
The museum features a variety of exhibits including a variety of firefighting equipment from different eras, as well as photographs, uniforms, and artifacts from firehouses around the world. Visitors to the museum can also explore a variety of interactive displays and exhibits, such as a fire safety maze and a fire simulator.
The museum's grounds feature a memorial garden dedicated to firefighters who have passed away, and a 9/11 memorial dedicated to the firefighters who died in the September 11th attacks. The museum also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including a yearly memorial service and a memorial march on the anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
The Firefighters Historical Museum is open to the public for tours and events. Guided tours are available, as well as self-guided audio tours.
