The Upper Merion Park & Historic Foundation (UMP&HF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history, nature and beauty of the Upper Merion Township in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1997, the UMP&HF is dedicated to preserving open space and historic buildings, as well as providing educational and recreational opportunities to its residents.
The Foundation owns and manages a number of properties, including the historic Hope Lodge and the Wayne-St. Davids Historic District. It also has a number of partnerships with local organizations, such as the Upper Merion Township Historical Commission, the Upper Merion Open Space Committee, and the Upper Merion Township Parks and Recreation Department.
The UMP&HF offers educational programs, such as field trips and seminars, to inform the public about the history, ecology and current status of the Upper Merion Township. It also organizes volunteer events and special events, such as the annual Hope Lodge 5K Run/Walk, which supports the restoration and maintenance of the historic Hope Lodge.
The UMP&HF also works to protect and preserve local farms, open spaces and natural resources. Through its land preservation efforts, the Foundation has been able to acquire and protect more than 1,700 acres of open space and farmland, and it has been instrumental in the creation of trails and interpretive signage that help visitors learn about the history and ecology of the area.
The UMP&HF is an active member of the community and works to keep the Upper Merion Township a vibrant, livable and historic place. The Foundation strives to serve as a model of responsible stewardship, and it is committed to preserving the natural beauty and historic legacy of the region.
